Richard DeNapoli

Richard DeNapoli was born and raised in Broward County and is the Chief Trust Officer & Fiduciary Counsel of a South Florida Based Trust Company that manages over $2 billion in assets. Richard’s professional background includes working as an Assistant State Attorney who prosecuted third degree felonies, and Richard also has a Master of Law in Estate Planning and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Practitioner. He served as a Florida Real Estate Commissioner from 2007-2013, and is currently the Chairman and a Supervisor on the Broward Soil & Water Conservation District, having first been elected countywide in 2018 and then representing District 3 which includes all of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea since 2022.

Given his background, Richard knows the importance of our beach to our beautiful coastal town, and Richard knows what it means to be a fiduciary and to always look out for the best interests of others. He is transparent, open, honest, and accessible, and will keep Lauderdale-By-The-Sea on the Right Track!

Richard is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law (2008, LL.M., Estate Planning), Fordham Law School (2002, J.D.) and New York University (1999, B.A., Politics; B.A. Italian). He licensed to practice law in Florida.

​In 2007, Richard DeNapoli was appointed as a Commissioner to the Florida Real Estate Commission (“FREC”), and subsequently reappointed when that term was up. Both of his appointments to the FREC were confirmed by the Florida Senate.

Richard was unanimously elected to serve as the Chairman of the Florida Real Estate Commission from 2010-2011, and he continued to serve on the Commission for two terms over six years through December 2013.

​A native of Florida, Richard DeNapoli cares deeply about foster care issues, and spent about a year in foster care before being adopted by his maternal grandparents.

​Richard served as a prosecutor in Orange County, Florida for a short time after law school prosecuting third degree felonies, before returning to South Florida to care for his grandmother when his grandfather passed away in June 2003.

​In addition to being a Licensed Attorney, Richard has also been successful in obtaining his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER(TM) certification. He worked as a Trust and Investment Officer for five years at a Fortune 500 Trust Company on a team with $1.8 Billion assets under management providing services to high net worth individuals.  He currently works in Management at a Florida based Trust company.

​Prior to working in the Trust industry, Richard practiced law successfully in his own practice  – making a payroll and helping to create jobs.  His entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his business and was the catalyst for his work helping others secure their financial future.
